| Mehbooba visits bereaved family of Moulana Showkat | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, April 10: Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti today called on the family of the slain religious leader and Chief of Jamiat-e- Ahlihadees Moulana Showkat Ahmed Shah. She met the mother and wife of the late Moulana and his children and was with them for quite some time. She was also accompanied by District president Srinagar Mohd Ashraf Mir.
Conveying her heart felt condolences to the family Mehbooba Mufti said Moulana’s brutal killing had deprived the Kashmiri Society of a highly respectable voice of moderation and religious knowledge. She prayed for eternal peace and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of irreparable loss.
Mehbooba said violence and murder had already caused great distress and damage to Kashmir society and people had consciously rejected it as a means of achieving political goals.
