Dr. Javaid Rahi, Secretary of Tribal Foundation we are demanding that the centre should be established at Jammu, the midpoint of the State so that the student of other parts of province could study this subject but the University authorities are bent upon delay it by saying that Gojri Centre will be established at Poonch camps 250 Km away from Jammu which is illogical. Dr.Rahi said the State Government has already recognized Gojri by including it in the 6th Schedule of the State constitution but till date no University in the State has recognized this language by including it into the University Curriculum and it is the aspiration of lakhs of people who want that due credit should be given to this ancient language which is serving our motherland for centuries together. He said , we have urged the authorities that there is an urgent need for promoting studies and research in tribal art, culture, tradition, language, custom, and only this Research Centre can full fill all these growing demands and with the help of this Centre the richest tribal traditions of Gujjars could be persevered for all generations to come.
