Education most potent tool for uprooting social evils: Tara Chand

JAMMU, APRIL 10 – Underscoring the importance of education in present times, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand described it as the most potent tool for eradication of social evils and upliftment of the society.
“Education makes individuals aware about their rights, thus enabling them to reap maximum benefits from various schemes and programs launched by the government for social upliftment”, he said.
Mr. Tara Chand was addressing a large congregation at Rampura Kulian in Marh, here today.
Thousands of people from all across the region participated in the congregation held on the occasion ofMail of Barwala Biradari.
Ex-MLA Balwan Singh, President, Barwala Biradari Capt. Biru Mal were prominent among those present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister was profusely garlanded by the people on arrival at the venue.
Describing mutual co-existence and love for humanity as core of all religious faiths, Mr. Tara Chand called for maintaining communal harmony in the society. He said spiritual teachings of saints and great men teach us to follow one’s own spiritual path as well as respect religious ideologies of fellow beings.
“Our society has a strong secular fabric and unique history of mutual co-existence as preached, which has been taught by great rishis and saints of this region, he said”.
Exhorting upon people to join hands with government in making the state a model state, the Deputy Chief Minister said with active support of the central government number of initiatives have been started to upgrade infrastructure all across the state.
He said state government has launched an all out infrastructure up gradation programme, by which besides upgrading rural infrastructure urban infrastructure is also getting fillip.
Later, a charter of demands was presented to the Deputy Chief Minister, which listed various demands of the community.
