| Guest Lecture on ‘Recent Trends in Education’ held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr 10: Continuing with the Guest lecture series at MIER College of Education, Renu Nanda, Associate Professor and Department of Education, University of Jammu was invited to deliberate upon the topic ‘Recent Trends in Education’ for the benefit of the students of PG Deptt. of the College.
Renu Gupta, Director MIER Group of Institutions chaired the session. Other distinguished guests present on the occasion were Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER, B.L.Raina HOD M.Ed., D.R. Kapoor, Head of Research Wing, Surinder Kaur, Controller of Examinations, and faculty members and students of PG Deptt. of Education.
Welcoming the distinguished speaker, Adit Gupta highlighted Nanda’s contributions in the field of education. He also expressed his gratitude to her for coming to the college and enlightening the students on a very pertinent issue.
Renu Nanda, the learned resource person deliberated upon the various trends being incorporated in teacher education based on latest researches in various fields. She started with a quote by Mahatma Gandhi that “If you want to bring a change, bring that change in yourself”.
There is no way to education, education is the way, she said. Thereafter she threw light upon various perspectives related to trends in teacher education in detail.
A lively interactive session followed in which the students queries were dealt with by the worthy resource person.
Renu Gupta in her concluding remarks said that since teacher education is getting revolutionized and various innovative practices are being incorporated in it, hence it is very important for us to keep abreast of the latest trends so that our system becomes self reliant and self directive in ways which are not only beneficial to the individual but also to the society.
To conclude the session, B.L. Raina presented a formal vote of thanks. Ira Bhan senior lecturer M.Ed conducted the programme.
