Hand over Mubarik Mandi to ASI: MMBA

Jammu, Apr 10: The “Mubarik Mandi Bachao Andolan” a people’s movement to save Mubarak Mandi – a great Dogra Heritage Centre from being commercialized, held meeting of its organizing committee in Jammu today.The Andolan Committee appreciated Sayed Rafiq Shah MLC who participated in the meeting for raising in the Legislative Council, the issue of preservation of Mubarak Mandi heritage.
The organising committee of the Andolan decided to take out Silent March from Purani Mandi to Mubarak Mandi in Jammu City on 15th April 2011 to spread the message of the Andolan to the people that would include “rise and save Mubarak Mandi from being converted to 5 Star Hotel and from changing its nature and structure of being historical monument”.
The committee decided to submit memorandum to the Governor and also to carry its campaign in various villages and towns to explain the historical importance of Mubarak Mandi- the Dogra heritage monument.
The Mubarak Mandi Bachao Andolan shall expose and oppose, with the participation of the people, the evil designs of some vested interests to distort its structure for conversion to 5 star hotel.
In the meeting, the Andolan Committee reiterated its stand that Mubarak Mandi is heritage of Dogras as also of the entire people of the State. It needs to be protected and preserved and for that purpose it should immediately be handed over to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Those who participated in today’s meeting included Narsinghdev Singh Jamwal(patron), Hari Chand Jalmeria Advocate(Coordinator), Gianeshwar Sharma, Mohan Singh, Randhir Singh Raipuria prominent Dogri writers, Udey Chand, Sayed Mohd. Rafiq Shah MLC, Ram Pal, Kamal Singh Jamwal, Mohd Sadiq Nargal, Ram Rattan Raina, S.Gurmeet Singh, Raj Kumar Gupta, Narinder Kumar, Ved Parkash, Kulbir Charak, Arvind Singh, Dewan Chand.An appeal was made to the various sections of society including intellectuals, businessmen, students, youth, lawyers, workers to participate in the Andolan programmes
