EARLY TIMES REPORT
Ramnagar, April 10, 2011: Expressing infinite belief and devotion towards Chauntra Mata Shrine located at the hills of Ramnagar, thousands of devotees thronged the shrine of Chauntra Mata to pay respect towards fulfilment of wishes in his holy sanctum on Sunday of Navratras as per old tradition. All the arrangements at the Chauntra Mata shrine such as medical, water, electricity, langars, smooth movement of yatris were personally ensured and supervised by Sub Divisional Magistrate Dudu Basantgarh Amit Sharma, who for the second consecutive year, was amongst the first few visitors to this shrine alongwith Akhand Jyot early hours in the morning. The best feature of today’s yatra, which is held on Sunday of holy Navratras every year, is that thousands of yatris started visiting Chauntra Mata temple as early as 4 am in the morning and the yatra was still going on till the reports last came in late in the evening inspite of continuous rains falling on the hills surrounding the shrine throughout the day. As per estimates, nearly 40,000 persons belonging to all age groups paid obeisance at Chauntara Mata, the prominent among which were MLA Harshdev Singh, Sub Judge Ramnagar Kalpana Revo, President Rotary Club Udhampur, various religious leaders, apart from SDM Amit Sharma, SDPO Ramnagar Virendar Bhat, BMO Ramnagar, Naib Tehsildar Ramnagar Mansa Ram Dhoi and other officers and officials of various departments. When contacted, SDM Amit Sharma who has strong perspective and vision for tourism having served as Deputy Director Tourism Jammu earlier, mentioned that no stone shall be left unturned to bring these two famous shrines of Ramnagar, one Chauntra Mata and other Pingla Mata, at the pilgrimage tourism map of state at the earliest alongwith ensuring availability of better infrastructure facilities here so that more and more pilgrims can make it possible to pay visits to these holy shrines in the coming years.Apart from the arrangements from all departments, lot of voluntary organizations and NGOs had arranged for huge free langars for fasting and non fasting visitors where these devotees took feast after the Akhand Jyot from Narsingh Dev ji Temple reached the holy shrine around noon in the presence of SDM Amit Sharma. A Havana was also performed in the temple premises for world peace and overall prosperity in which large number of public participated during Purna Ahuti. Moreover, the enthusiasm and spirit of public while moving up and down steep hills surrounding Chauntra Mata was worth watching who scaled up and down chanting Mata bhajans and slogans in spite of dicey weather conditions which they, in fact, termed as good omen and sign of acceptance of their offerings by the holy Goddess
