| Jugal reviews functioning of RD | | |

Provincial level committees will be constituted for procurement of material for the works being executed under different schemes of Rural Development Department. This was revealed by the Minister for Rural Development and Panchyati Raj Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma here today while reviewing functioning of Rural Development Department in Jammu district at a meeting chaired by him. Legislators, Mrs Suman Bhagat, Chowdhery Gharu Ram, Mr. Yashpal Kundal, Secretary Rural Development, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Director Rural Development Department, Additional District Development Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Development and BDOs were present in the meeting.
While reviewing the pace of work of several projects taken up in rural areas under the schemes, PMGSY, SGRY, BADP and Model village, the Minister stressed upon the officers that all works should be executed under the guidelines prescribed by the Centre and there should not be any violation in this behalf. He said these centrally sponsored schemes are aimed at the socio-economic upliftment of rural people living Below Poverty Line. “It becomes mandatory for us to reach out to every rural areas to help benefit deserving poor”, he asserted.
Mr. Jugal emphasized the need to strictly adhere to the instructions and decisions taken in today’s meeting and sought proper implementation on ground. He cautioned that the works under execution or to be taken up for execution should be in consonance with the decisions taken today. He further said that identification of families deserving cash assistance for construction of their dwelling houses under IAY, Dehi Majlisis would be held in the villages in consultation with elected public representatives and the prominent citizens of their respective areas. Reviewing the pace of development of model villages, he instructed the concerned BDOs to ensure the replacement of inferior quality of tiles for laying in model villages. He also instructed that the gates in three model villages of his constituency should be installed by 10th of December positively. He said that the development of model villages should be ensured as per proforma prescribed and added that in casework demand any change the approval of administrative department should be sought.
