Promotion of 3 IGPs, 4 SSPs on anvil | Home Dept all set to recommend two on deputation | | SUMIT SHARMA JAMMU, April 10: The State Home department is all set to promote three Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs) to Additional Director Generals of Police and four Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to Deputy Inspector Generals of Police. A proposal to recommend two senior police officers on deputation to centre has also been mooted by the home, informed sources told Early Times. The well placed sources with in Home department informed that promotion of three IGPs including SP Vaid, Naveen Aggarwal and D R Doley is on the cards and they are likely to be promoted as Additional Director Generals of Police soon. “All the three officers belong to 1986 batch of the Indian Police Services (IPS) and have completed 25 years of their services…. Their promotion is certainly due and the formalities related to their alleviation to the next rank have been completed,” sources said IGP SP Vaid is presently on deputation to Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) while Doley is posted as IGP Headquarters in PHQ and Naveen Agarwal is performing his duty as IGP Railways. Sources further revealed that besides promotion of 3 IGPs to ADGPs, State Home Department is also considering the promotions of four SSPs of 1997 batch to the rank of DIGs. Sources disclosed the names of these officers as Surinder Kumar Gupta, presently holding the charge of SSP Udhampur, SSP Ghulam Ahmed Dar, presently posted in Passport office Srinagar, SSP AK Attri, posted as SO to IGP Jammu and Johny William is serving as SSP Crime Branch, Jammu at present. According to sources, the formalities as per the requisite norms for their promotions have also been completed. “A meeting of Departmental Promotion Committee will be held shortly and the names the four officers for their promotion are expected to be cleared then,” said sources Informed sources in Home further disclosed that names of two top most officers of police have been circled to dispatch them on deputation. A letter has been forwarded to the Centre, reply of which is awaited, sources added.
