| Kashmiri leaders' outcry unwarranted on Dogra certificate issue | | | Early Times Report
Jammu April 10: Dogra Certificates won't help the valiant Dogras to get jobs in the valley, state government department. It is basically meant for a special relaxation in height in central forces. In the back drop of the "controversy," created for no valid reasons over the issuance of Dogra Certificate. Early Times speak to different sets of people to seek their views on the issue.

Kashmiri leadership, especially the separatists are manipulating this issue. This certificate is of no harm to any one. This certificate will only help the Dogras in getting two inch height relaxation during recruitment in central security forces, so it is for the benefit of the Dogras on a whole. We should appreciate this step.

This certificate should survive. The people in Kashmir are creating redundant propaganda over this issue. It is for the benefit of all the Dogras. Earlier also the Dogras were getting concession in the central forces through this certificate in height. But due to reasons better known to the government, the issuance of these certificates were stopped. In 2003, I personally took initiative and presented this issue to Divisional Commissioner who issued notices to all the naib-tehsildars and tehsildars to issue the Dogra certificates. Now again as this issue has been raised we appreciate it as it is in the favour of the Dogras.

Actually the aim of providing these certificates is that the Dogras could avail concession in recruitments in security forces. During our times, tehsildar was the concerned authority to issue these certificates, but due to certain unknown reasons government stopped it. Now again if government has taken this decision, people should welcome it, don’t know why the people in Kashmir are creating undue hype of this issue. This provision is mandatory as the people of the Dogra origin are short-structured and due to their non-compliance, they were denied access in Amy, but this certificate helps them to avail some concessions during recruitments. It is above caste and religion, so people on whole should welcome this step.

We support the issuance of Dogra certificates. Dogras are known warriors. They are known for their valor and bravery. This certificate basically to provide them certain concessions in recruitment in security forces and they deserve it. There is no reason to deny these certificates to the Dogras, as there is no discrimination of caste or religion. They are for all, so are in favour of it
