| VKMI submits Memorandum to Governor | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, APRIL 11:- A delegation of the Vichar Kranti Manch International met the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan here today and submitted a Memorandum of their demands. The demands projected by the 9-member delegation of the Manch led by its Chief Patron, Dr. R. R. Khajuria, included, interalia, very early appointment of the members of the State Information Commission, strengthening of the State Human Rights and the State Vigilance Commissions and making the Accountability Commission and Vigilance Commission fully functional. The other demands highlighted by the delegation included promotion of moral and ethical values and incorporating these as a subject in the educational curricula, taking measures for curbing corruption, promotion of e-governance, effecting electoral reforms, etc. Dr. Khajuria briefed the Governor about the ongoing activities of the Manch and those planned for the future. The delegation thanked the Governor for promptly responding to and initiating action on the Manch’s earlier Memorandum, which was submitted in May 2010. The Governor gave a patient hearing to the deputationists and assured to take up their issues with the Chief Minister. The delegation comprised Dr. K. C. Dubey, Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Dr. R. R. Sharma, Mr. I. D. Soni, Dr. Usha Tickoo, Mr. S. K. Jain, Mr. Harjinder Singh and Mr. Madan Mohan Sharma. The Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mr. R. K. Goyal, was present on the occasion.
