Akhnoor Cup: Madan’s 92 guides Challenger to 21-run win | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 11: Madan Mohan powered Challenger Cricket Club to a 21-run win over Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) to advance into the next round of Akhnoor Cup Cricket Tournament underway at Government Higher Secodnary School, Akhnoor today. Star performer, Madan Mohan made 92 runs came off mere 43 balls studded with 10 sixes and five boundaries. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Challenger set a target of 214 runs for the loss of five wickets in allotted 20 overs. Guru and Rawat also played well contributing 35 and 20 runs respectively. From Young Star, Raju and Ranjit took two wickets each. In reply, YSCC bowled out for 189. Vickey remained top scored with 53 runs while Gourav and Romy added 46 and 45 runs respectively. For Challenger Club, Guru, Rawat and Saini took one wicket each. Later, Madan was adjudged man of the match for his superb batting. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Mahavir Cricket Club registered a big 72 runs win over Bantalab Cricket Club to move into the second round. Mahavir Club batting first, made 175 runs in 19.5 overs, which, in reply, Bantalab could not chase and the whole side bowled out for 102 runs. For his superb innings of half century, Rajesh of the losers, Bantalab Club was declared man of the match.
