| Retirement age challenged | | | Jammu, Nov 15 Justice YP Nargotra of J&K High Court Jammu wing today in a petition filed by Gurdas Ram, an employee of Jammu Central Coop Bank, challenging the lowering down the retirement age from 60 to 58 years, issued notice to JCC Bank, Registrar Cooperative Societies and Joint Registrar Cooperative Societies to file objections within two weeks and till then status quo shall be maintained. Justice Nargotra, after hearing Advocate SK Shukla appearing for the petitioner, Sr. Advocate SS Lehar with Adv CN Gupta and Adv Akshay Anand appearing for the respondents and caveators, directed to file objections within two weeks and in the meanwhile the petitioner’s services, if in place, status-quo shall be maintained. Caveat shall stand discharged. The petitioner challenged the reduction of retirement age from 60 to 58 years and submitted that he was employed before 1997 whereas JCC Bank Employees Service Rules of 1997 were registered with the Registrar Cooperative Societies on June 15, 1997, the age of the employee of the bank for retirement is 60 years. Now attempt has been made to reduce the retirement age from 60 years to 58 years. JNF
