Nobody will be allowed to create hurdles in Panchayat Polls: DGP

Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir Kuldeep Khoda today asserted that nobody will be allowed to vitiate the atmosphere and create obstacles in smooth conduct of Panchayat Polls starting from April 13.
Barely two days before the first phase of Panchyat polls beginning April 13 in the state, the DGP today reviewed overall security situation in a high level meeting in Kashmir Valley. The meeting was attended by chiefs of various wings of Jammu and Kashmir police, District Superintendents of Police and other paramilitary forces’ deployed in the Valley.
“Nobody will be allowed to vitiate the atmosphere and create obstacles in smooth conduct of polls’. State police chief asserted.
The meeting was held at Police control Room here this evening. Khoda called for close synergy between various law enforcing agencies to ensure free and fair elections. He emphasized the need for creating a congenial atmosphere conducive for maximum participation of voters in the democratic exercise at the gross route level.
The DGP was briefed that measures have been taken with regard to improving security and deployment of personnel for maintaining law and order in the Kashmir Valley. Khoda directed that a strict vigil should be maintained on the anti social elements in all the nooks and corners of the valley so that ill designs are foiled. He further directed the police and all other agencies to maintain the congenial atmosphere in the Valley for overall peace and prosperity of the people.
State police chief stressed upon the officers to work with greater zeal and maintain close liaison with one another for smooth conduct of elections which will begin from April 13. He impressed upon the field officers to strengthen the deployments and the manpower on the ground so that the people are able to elect their representatives for the Panchayats, in a free and fair atmosphere.
