| Urdu's promotion finds government's attention | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr 11: For promotion and protection of Urdu language, set u QY J&K Government held its first meeting on Monday.
The chairman of the committee M Y Taing while addressing the meeting said, “ Urdu has been the lingua-frenqua of the state for the last 150 years and has acted as a unifying force in our state of diverse regions, languages, cultures and ethnicities”.
He said that various factors have been responsible for slowing down of its role as the official language of the state as recognized by its constitution.
Taing said that at the desire of pupil at large the Government has now initiated actions to restore Urdu language in the state to its pristine glory and the formation of present committee heralds this initiative. He hoped that all Urdu loving pupil will geared up their lions to accomplish this noble task.
The Convener of committee Dr Liaqat Jafri also spoke in the meeting and highlighted various issues connect with it working.
The meeting concluded after a thorough discussion by participants witch the some very pragmatic suggestion for promotion & protection of Urdu language in J&K.
