Strike affects life for 3rd consecutive day

SRINAGAR, Apr 11: Syed Ali Geelani sponsored strike affected life for the third consecutive day in Kashmir today. Today's strike call was given by Geelani to protest issuance of Dogra Certificate to Jammu people. ON Saturday and Sunday, the Valley observed strike to protest the killing of Jamiat-e-Ahli Hadees President, Moulana Showkat Shah.
All shops, commercial establishments and educational institutions remained closed. Work in government offices and bank was also affected due to strike. Traffic was off the roads. However, a few private vehicles were seen moving in the city.
Additional security forces deployed from Saturday morning, remained deployed in the city to prevent any untoward incident.
Reports of shut down have been received from Baramulla, Sopore and Bandipora towns. In South Kashmir the strike evoked near total response.
