45% Progress achieved, Hospital to be ready by June, 2012 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR APRIL, 12: The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah toady morning visited the prestigious super specialty hospital site at Shreen bagh which is in the heart of Shahri Khas, where work on Rs. 137 Crore hospital is going in full swing. Omar personally took stock of its work. He was accompanied by minister for Medical Education and Youth services and Sports R.S. Chib Later, at a meeting while making a presentation about the functioning of the 8 associated hospitals, the principal Govt Medical College Dr. Shahida Mir informed the chief Minister that these hospitals provide medical facilities to 3936 patients per day and also conduct 116 major and 151 minor surgeries .As such about one million patients are being provided medical treatment annually in these hospitals associated with the Govt. Medical College. The principal said that the total bed capacity of associated hospitals is 2305 of which 890 beds are in SMHS Hospital and 500 in L.D Hospital, 200 in G.B Panth 400 in C.D Hospital while 150 beds are in Bone & Joint Hospitals. She said Chittranjan Mobile Hospital Srinagar is also having 30 bed capacities for the treatment of patients. Dr. Shahida Mir informed Omar Abdullah that one additional block is under construction at L.D Hospital which would add more 200 beds to the hospital. The Chief Minister was informed that this prestigious project shall have trauma, Neurosurgery, paediatric surgery, Cardiology, CVTS, and Nephrology Gastroenteology etc. The hospital shall have a capacity of 220 beds ,of which 172 beds would be for in patients and 26 for I.C. U. Dr Shahida Mir further said that orders for procuring 27 medical equipments have been issued of which 19 have been installed.
