Jedians bring laurels at Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week 2011 | | | Early Times REPORT Jammu, Apr 12:After a rigorous selection process nine students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Jammu centre, got the chance to be a part of the Asia’s premier Fashion Event - Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Delhi. A grand five day event started with inauguration of the JD lounge at the WIFW by Sunil Sethi, chairman FDCI. This was for the first time ever that fashion designing students of Jammu were exposed to such a grand fashion event. The JD Jammu Fashion design students also got a chance to participate in photography and mood board competitions held at the venue of wills lifestyle India fashion week. Megha Gupta and Ishan Deep won awards for photography, and Priya Dhillon and Nagma Gupta won in the mood board competition.The students also had interactive seminars with leading designers, Ritu kumar, Rohit Bal,Anita Dongre and Manoviraj Khosla.and attended a quiz competition hosted by Sabyasachi JD Jammu Students saw the live fashion shows of various top designers of the industry like Manish Malhotra, Ritu Kumar, Masaba Gupta, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Tarun Tahiliani and the grand finale by Sabyasachi. Sunil Sethi, president, FDCI said, “FDCI has always promoted students and designers in the field of fashion. This year we are happy to provide students of the JD Institute of Fashion Technology an opportunity to engage with designers and members of the fashion fraternity.” R.C.Dalal, executive director said, “It is the first time that we have associated as the institutional partner with the India fashion week, the sole idea to associate was to get the education quotient to such a huge trade event and will also focus on the student’s designers places like Jammu, Guwahati, Kanpur, etc. The institute plans to create various seminars and media workshops so that the student designers get a firsthand experience of what s going on in the world of fashion”. Maansi Gupta, center director Jammu said,” I am extremely happy that our JD Jammu students got the opportunity to participate in such a grand fashion event of the year. She said that she was excited to have JD Jammu fashion design students attending the workshops and also interacting with big designers, in all the Jammu student designers got the same exposure as in the metros”.
