Taekwondo medalists honored | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, APRIL 12- Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Technical and Medical Education R. S. Chib has said that Government is endeavoring to promote sports talent among youth to make them compete in sports activities at National as well as International level. This was stated by the Minister while addressing at a facilitation function, organized by J&K Taekwondo Association in honor of the players who participated in National Teakwando Poomsae Championship at Gujarat and brought laurels for the State by winning the event. The participants have earlier participated in Common Wealth Games held at New Delhi. The Minister said that focused attention is being paid for up-gradation of sports infrastructure in the State, adding development of sports stadia and play fields receives priority of the Government. He said to explore the hidden sports talent of the youth physical education instructors have been posted in all most all Government educational institutions besides providing sports equipments. Chib said in order to promote sports activities in Urban as well as Rural areas several inter district and inter State tournaments are being organized to promote the sports talent of the youth, adding that for the purpose Youth Services and Sports Department and Sports Council are providing all possible assistance to the players. The Minister congratulated the players for participating in National and international level championships and Common Wealth Games and presented trophies to them. A culture programme was also presented to celebrate the function and players exhibited martial art techniques on the occasion and received appreciation from the audience. MLA Banihal Vaqar Rasool was guest of honour on the occasion. Among other General Secretary PCCI S. Amol Singh, General Secretary Sports Council Sidharat Sharma, President, JKTA P. C. Sharma, Organizing Secretary D. N. Pangotra other dignitaries of the Association, senior officer of Youth Services and Sports, prominent citizens and a large number of people were present.
