Dr Farooq welcomes Manmohan’s invite to Pak Pres, PM | ‘SKIMS medicos more concerned about pvt practice’ | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Mar 26 : The National Conference patron and Union Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah, Saturday welcomed Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s decision to invite Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to watch India-Pakistan semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup at Mohali on March 30 Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a conference at SKICC here, Dr Abdullah said, “We welcome Pakistan PM and President to India. It is the best opportunity for India and Pakistan to open doors for peace. Both countries should forget about the past and normalize their relations which is in the best interests of the people of the two countries.” He lambasted at those elements who want to destabilize peace in Kashmir. “ Some elements don’t want peace and prosperity in the state. They should learn a lesson from Libya. Peace is must for prosperity,” he added. Dr Abdullah also had a word of criticism for the medicos of Sher-e-Kashmir Institutes of Medical Sciences Soura. “They (medicos) have ruined the prestigious institution as they are more concerned about their private practices than serving people in the hospital.” Despite getting Non Practicing Allowance, some senior medicos spend most of their time in private practice. Despite repeated warnings from the government to desist from private practice, some of the medicos still continue the practice.
