Secret police to prevent cross voting in LC electiosn? | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu,April 12: As the National Conference and Congress are trying their best to woo their legislators to prevent cross voting in the Legislative Council polls, the government, reports said has urged the intelligence sleuths to maintain strict vigil on the coalition legislators. Both Congress and National Conference are worried over internal bickering. While the tussle in Congress has come to surface, the National Conference has managed to pusah it under the carpet for the time being. While former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi azad is blamed for problems in Congress, the National Conference workers blame some `influential people’ around the Chief Minister for themes the party finds itself in. Although the coalition legislators have assured total prudence the leaders do not rule out cross voting. They are desperately trying to keep the annoyed MLAs in good humour, reports said. Reports said that both the National Conference and Congress leaders were trying to secure support from a few MLAs belonging to the PDP and the BJP. Similarly, reports said, tthe PDP was trying to woo MLAs from the Congress, NC and the BJP. The NC is wooing PDP MLAs to ensure PDP’s defeat in Kashmir Valley. While the Congress is safe in Poonch where it has field Mir Jehangir it does not want its candidfate,Yashpal Khajuria to lose from Jammu. Hence last minute efforts are being made to keep the flock of the Congress MLAs together. The PCC chief Saif-ud-Din Soz in a bid to to prevent cross voting entrusted the party’s poll campaign to Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand who is believed to be a dissident. In his new avatar, Tara Chand will be forced to prevent cross voting, reports said.
