| Hakeem for free economic zone in J&K | | | Jammu, Nov 16 Welcoming the resumption of Indo-Pak talks Chairman PDF and Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said on Thursdaythat carrying forward dialogue and addressing all issues on table is not only a very good sign for lasting peace in the Sub-Continent but all together important for peace and economic well being of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that during last 17 years tremendous economic losses have been suffered by the state and people from all walks of life received set back in their economic activities. He said trade and commerce sectors received big jolt, artisans, artists, skilled and un-skilled labourers, traders and others got heavily affected. He said time is ripe enough to open Srinagar-Muzafarrabad route as trade route and declare Jammu and Kashmir as a free-economic zone so that trade and commerce activities get considerable fillip and losses suffered during the period of militancy are made good of. He said Jammu and Kashmir has a great potential of emerging as hub of trade and the centre of economic activities for not only the country but entire area of South Asia as such efforts have to be initiated in this direction.. Hakeem Yaseen lauded the role of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad for taking bold initiatives of resolving issues pertaining to the people of Jammu and Kashmir through the medium of roundtable conferences which he described proved very successful. He said constitution of five working groups and their successful meetings to arrive at suggesting ways and means for addressing all issues is a very positive sign. The spokesman of PDF and MLA Mr. Usman Majid also welcomed resumption of Indo-Pak talks and describing these positive steps towards peace and development process. |
