Dilawar invites private investors to invest in J&K

Welcoming the coming up of new ventures in private sector in the state, Minister for Tourism and PHE Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir has called upon young entrepreneurs to boost trade and commerce in the state by expanding their activities to the rual areas apart from cities and towns.
Inaugurating a private readymade garments showroom here on Thursday, Mr. Mir said that growth of industrial sector and expansion of trade activities possesses great potential in the state. He said these sectors provide greater opportunity of jobs to qualified skilled, semi-skilled and labour classes, as such require proper nurturing and boost. He asked the Hollywood Garments Company which launched the showroom to invest in trade and commerce in a big way and extend their activities to other areas providing opportunity of jobs to the unemployed.
He said Jammu and Kashmir being a tourist state requires to provide best shoppers facility in all areas especially near the tourist and pilgrim centres. He asked qualified youth to avail incentives and assistance provided by the government for establishing small scale industrial and economic units and not only earn respectable remunerations for themselves but give employment to others.

WTM-London generates new hope for tourism boom in J&K: Dilawar Mir

Jammu, November 16 (INFO) – World famous SKII resort, Gulmarg is expected to witness heavy tourist influx during the ensuring winter season. A large number of NRI’s and International tour operators have shown overwhelming desire to visit the Kashmir especially during winter, when the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir briefed the British journalists, tour operators and NRI’s about legendary beauty of Gulmarg and world class Skiing infrastructure coming up there during the World Trade Mart (WTM) held in London last week.
The Minister, who was accompanied by a team of senior officers of Tourism Department also met the tourism Minister of Malaysia and Advisor on tourism to Iran, Indian High Commissioner to UK and prominent Heli-Skiers and travel companies and discussed measures for diverting foreign tourists to Kashmir.
Mr Dilawar briefed them that the Gulmarg offers not only rich diversity of landscape but provides some of the finest natural slopes for skiing in the world and has achieved international recognition as a powder skiing destination. The cable car Gandola in Gulmarg, the highest Gandola in the world, takes a skier to 13400 ft in the Apharwat Range and provides a breath- taking ski run of 6 Kms upto Gulmarg, with some of it through beautiful pine forests, the Minister apprised adding that foreign SKI experts have now been engaged to provide assistance to the ski avalanche and petrol teams managing the mountain ski operations. Already, over 300 foreign skiers have registered their bookings at Gulmarg where the J&K cable car corporation have made special arrangements for Gandolla passes to skiers on concessional rates, the Minister added. The Minister also highhighted the rich diversity of landscapes and adventure opportunities available in the J&K for the tourists adding that Kashmir offers some of the most beautiful Golf courses of stringent international standards.
The Minister also attended the inauguration of the incredible India pavilion inaugurated by the union Minister for tourism and culture Ms Ambica soni and had an interaction with top ranking international travel writers including Jo Gardner, Features, Travel Weekly, John Hillock, Executive director and lisa Hughes, publisher of Conde Nast, Traveler (US), John Hill, Good Holiday Ideas/ Good Ski guide, paul Miles, Freelance Journalist, Dave Watts, Editor in chief Daily Mail Ski and Snowboard magazine, James Wallman, Freelance Journalist etc and had appointments with well known travel journalists including Fiona Dunlop, freelance journalist and Mr. Arvind Sharma, Asstt. Editor Worldroom MICE besides holding a press conference in the North Gallery at Excel, the venue of the Travel Mart.
Besides meeting with journalists and local tour operators at the venue of the World Travel Mart, the Minister also hosted a dinner for local journalists, tour operators and other diginitaries connected with travel to India. A small cultural programme of local Kashmiri music was also organized to popularize the culture of the State.
The Minister visited Kashmir Bhawan in Luton organized by Kashmir Bhawan Centre Society and interacted with large number of NRIs and apprised them about the current tourism scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister attended the function hosted by the Kashmir Association at Ealing (London) were he also discussed measures about promotion of tourism in the State.
The Kashmir stall at WTM and various meetings of the Minister generated excellent response and several international tour operators and travel journalists assured to promote Kashmir as most wanted international tourism destination.
