NSUI extends full support to Batote GD College agitation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 13: NSUI J&K (National Students Union of India) has extended full support to the ongoing agitation of the local unit of NSUI district Ramban /Batote and general pubic of Batote for the establishment of GD College at Batote. Addressing a press conference at NSUI head office, Abdul Rashid Choudhary State President, who was accompanied by Rashed Mallik NSUI district President Ramban, said that NSUI J & K is fully up with NSUI local unit and people of Batote in their genuine demand for establishment of GD College and Girls Higher Secondary School at Batote. Rashid Choudhary urged the state government to full fill the demand of people of Batote without any further delays. It is pertinent to mention here that for the last two weeks students, youth and general public of Batote are staging continuous dharnas and protest for the fulfillment of their demand for declaring Batote as a Tehsil, and establishment of GD College and Girls Higher Secondary School. Abdul Rashid Choudhary said that a great discrimination has been committed by the successive governments by not providing people of Batote with even basic facilities. He appealed to student and youth of the Batote to join the peaceful agitation being spearheaded by NSUI for the welfare of people of Batote. H e revealed that NSUI have taken up the matter with concerned authorities but have not received any positive response so far. He said that if the people’s demand is not taken seriously, NSUI J&K would intensify the stir for their demand and state and central leadership of NSUI may proceed to Batote for a longer and bigger agitation. Speaking on the occasion Rashied Malik NSUI district President, Ramban who is leading the agitation in Batote said that all the political parties during elections for the years have promised to give Batote a Degree College and Tehsil status, but nothing has happened so far. He said that many towns with a population of around 18000 people in the state have been given Degree Colleges and ITI at instance of local ministers but Batote with population of more than 35 thousand people have been denied their right. He threatened to intensify the agitation if the demand of the people are not meted and would continue till the demands are full filled. Jatinder Chib state secratory NSUI Chetan Misri senior NSUI leader also addressed the press conference.
