11/16/2006 10:42:37 PM

Jammu, Nov 16
To ensure benefits of Social Welfare schemes to deserving and genuine people, Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mr. Tara Chand convened a 2-day open darbar for proper identification of beneficiaries eligible for old-age, widow and handicapped pension at far-flung villages of Kharah, chack-Malal and Pargwal in Khour block.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said that aim of organizing such darbar is to ensure that the benefits of all social welfare schemes reach to the deserving beneficiaries and no unjustified person grabs the share of poor. He said that per Panchayat more than 20 beneficiaries would be covered during the current financial year under the pension scheme. He directed the concerned officers to complete all the formalities on spot and submit the forms to the concerned department for sanction.
Speaker apprised the people that similar darbars would be organised for identifying beneficiaries under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) to remove apprehension of misuse.
Mr. Tara Chand impressed upon the officers to enlighten the rural masses about the schemes launched by the government for their benefits. He appealed the people to maintain proper coordination with the government functionaries and take benefits of these schemes. He asked the officers to accelerate their efforts to implement all central sponsored schemes in letter and spirit and achieve the targets.
While highlighting the achievements of government, Speaker said that the coalition government headed by Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad is committed to ensure all round development on all fronts especially in rural areas. He lauded the historical decisions taken by Azad led government for eradication of corruption, creation of new districts, tehsils and formation of Finance Commission to ensure equitable distribution of resources and development. These decisions would prove milestones in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, said Mr. Tara Chand.
Local leaders, Sarpanchs and Panchs also addressed the gathering. District officers of different departments were present on the occasion.
