| Azad expresses gratitude to PM for enhancing Haj Quota | | | Jammu, Nov 16 Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed his personal gratitude and thanks to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his cabinet colleagues for accepting demand of the state government for increasing Hajj quota for Jammu and Kashmir this year as a special case. Chief Minister had already several times taken up the matter with the Prime Minister during the meetings he held with him in this connection. Mr. Azad also talked on telephone to Union Minister for Civil Aviation Mr. Praful Patel for ensuring special Hajj flights from Srinagar to Saudi Arabia for carrying extra Hajj pilgrims. The Union Minister assured him that immediate action will be taken in this regard. Chief Minister also talked to Union Minister of State for Hajj Mr. E. Ahmad and requested him to make arrangements for extra Hajj pilgrims from the state in Mecca Mouazma and Medina Sharief. Chief Minster also directed Divisional Commissioner Kashmir for making adequate arrangements like last year for Hajj pilgrims. He advised State Hajj Committee to ensure that all facilities are provided to the Hajj pilgrims before their departure on the pilgrimage like providing passports, documentation, identity cards and conducting vaccination. Mr. Azad hoped that right from the point of departure till Hajj pilgrims board the aircrafts, all arrangements are made in a meticulous manner. He hoped that adequate provision will be created at airports for offering prayers by Hajj pilgrims and necessary provision will be made for providing maximum number of separate bathrooms for male and female pilgrims accordingly so that they are able to go for timely ablution at the point of departure and before wearing Ahrams. He also hoped that proper and adequate arrangements for streamlining the traffic system at the time of departure of Hajj pilgrims is ensured.
