| Surprised by coalition victory : Omar | | | Jammu , April 13
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said he was surprised by the victory of the ruling National Conference-Congress alliance in the legislative council elections held here Wednesday.
The ruling alliance was contesting five of the six seats to which the elections were held Wednesday. It won all the five, while the sixth was won by the main opposition
People's Democratic Party (PDP).
Tweeting on this victory, Omar wrote: 'Coalition wins all the 5 seats it was supposed to, but perhaps not expected to.' There were apprehensions that cross-voting by parties could hamper the coalition's chances.
