Early Times Report
Jammu, April 13 : The Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP) High Command has taken serious notice of cross voting done by its seven MLAs in J&K Legislative Council elections which were held today. The seven Party members out of 11 defying the party whip voted in favour of alliance candidates to ensure their victory. Party members indulged in cross voting at a time when the national leadership comprising Parliamentary delegation is on visit to state.

Soon after the result was declared and news of BJP MLA’s cross voting spread like a wild fire across the city sending shock waves in rank and file of the party in particular. A pal of gloom descended at state party headquarters as the action of 7 MLAs demoralized entire flock even as some senior leaders mustered courage to admit the MLAs had betrayed entire Jammu population by the shameful act. “ Party Key whip Ki Dhajjiyan Udai Gai Hain………(party whip has been thrown to wind), said Ashok Kharia chief whip of BJP adding that it was an act of brazen betrayal. Those who have done it won’t be spared he said adding some people stand already identified. On the other hand the spokesperson of the state unit of BJP Dr Jitender Singh said Delhi had taken a serious notice of the development and next course of action would be taken in day. Perturbed over the development, State president Shamsher Singh Manhas also hinted at ‘strict disciplinary action’ against the guilty .
Soon the results came to know the sources said some activists contacted Party High Command in Delhi and informed them about the cross voting by Party MLAs. The agitating Party activists sought disciplinary action against the MLAs for violating the party whip and casting their vote against BJP candidate Ranjit Singh.
Sources said that equally perturbed, the Party High Command has sought a detailed report from its state leadership so that the disciplinary action could be initiated against the MLA’s who did cross voting in the crucial elections of Upper House. The BJP MLAs are said to be divided in two camps and it is one camp numbering 7 which indulged in cross voting, sources added.

Sources said the team has given indication that it will also recommend strong disciplinary action against the party MLAs. Meanwhile one of the senior leaders in union capital while commenting on the growing indiscipline in state BJP where the MLAs have been continuously indulging in cross voting has said that party will not tolerate this in future and it will act tough against those involved in cross voting.
Even there is a grave resentment among the political circles in J&K. the action of party MLAs has not demralised the BJP activists for whom the cross voting of its MLAs came as a rude shock but the sister organisations of BJP are equally worried against the decision. They term the decision of the BJP MLAs as betrayal of peoples trust.

.
Meanwhile state BJP has convened an emergency meeting of MLAs and core group tomorrow evening to discuss the issue in view of the report sought by Party High Command in Delhi.
