120th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar | Political parties, social organisations pay rich tributes to architect of Indian constitution | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 14: Several political parties, social organisations, literary groups and other institutions across Jammu region celebrated 120th birth anniversary of architect of the Indian constitution and Bharat Rattan Dr. B R Ambedkar. President of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti said that the biggest tribute to Bharat Rattan Babasaheb Dr. B R Ambedkar would be to realize his dreams and vision of a strong democracy to ensure equality for all. Addressing an impressive function at the headquarter to pay homage to BR Amedkar on his 120th birth anniversary, PDP president said that Baba Sahib led millions of the oppressed to a life of self-respect, dignity and responsibility. On this occasion, party senior leaders Ved Mahajan, Shanti Devi, Dhaman Bhashin, Thakur Filail Singh, Choudhary Hussain Ali Wafa, Vijay Dogra, Youth Vice President Rajinder Singh Manhas, Bharat Shah and H R Chargotra were also present. Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has said that the government is committed to provide equal opportunities of development of all the three regions of the State. He said that J&K has a huge tourism potential and steps are being taken to explore this potential in a big way adding that Bahu Fort is being developed as pilgrimage tourism destination. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a religious function organized by Guru Ravidass Sabha, Bahu Fort in connection with 120th birth anniversary of Bharat Rattan Dr. B R Ambedkar, here today. Bhalla said that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar played an important role in the welfare of the downtrodden people in India. He showed them a path which not only led to their development but also the development of India. Listing the measures taken by the Government, Bhalla said that all out efforts are being made to develop Bahu Fort area on modern lines in providing all infrastructural facilities to devotees of Bawe-Wali-Mata. The Minister informed that the Government was paying focused attention for exploiting the varied tourism potential of Jammu division. He said that a number of measures have been taken to develop new tourism spots and conservation of century old monuments of the region. NSUI today commemorated B. R. Ambedkar on his 120th birth anniversary. A team of NSUI workers led by state general secretary NSUI Arjun Singh Pathania and Jammu University President Sarbjit Singh Randhawa converged in Jammu University and remembered Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Addressing the NSUI workers, Pathania said that B. R. Ambedkar was the national personality and is wrongly exploited by some caste communalists as their brand ambassadors. He added that Baba Saheb was leader of entire India and not a particular caste or community. Sarbjit also addressed and said that they will distribute the thoughts of Baba Saheb on Pamphlets. Others who spoke on the occasion and addressed the NSUI workers included Chetan Misri, state secretary, Abhimanyu jamwal, city president NSUI and Azhar Usman Khan. Young Blood Welfare Society Ranjit Pur,Gole Gujral Jammu under the chairmanship of T.R Azad organized a highly impressive program me on the Birthday of Dr.Bbasahib B.R Ambedkar, chief architect of Indian Constitution, a great crusader for human rights, a great philosopher and politician. Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress today paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratan Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his 120th birth anniversary today. President J&K PCC and former Union Minister Prof. Saifuddin Soz (MP) while paying rich tributes to the father of Indian Constitution, described him as one of the towering personalities of modern India who will always be remembered for his outstanding contribution for the upliftment of the downtrodden people in this country. Prof Soz said that because of his relentless efforts for the rights of the under privileged sections of the society and to get them their constitutional rights in every sphere of life on the principal of equality, the Indian constitution is a unique document representing the pluralistic character of our country. He will always be remembered for his pivotal role in formulating the constitution of India, a large democracy in the world. To commemorate the 121st Birthday of Bharat Ratna, Dr. B.R Ambedkar, a seminar on the theme, "Social Justice and Dr. Ambedkar" was organised by Jammu & Kashmir Tribal United Forum which was attended by various academicians, social scientists, legal luminaries, NGO's and researchers. Chief of the Forum, Roshan Din Choudhary presided over the seminar and Tanwir Ahmed, an executive member has conducted the proceedings. In his inaugural address, Roshan Din Choudhary said that Bharat Ratna, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a great son of Indian soil, a multifaceted personality was a jurist, educator, journalist, revolutionary thinker, leader, social reformer and the architect of Indian Constitution. Among other distinguished speakers were Prof. Mohd. Azam, Prof. Amil Hussain from Poonch, Vijay Kumar Bhagat, Dr. G.D.Singh, a researcher, Jameel Ahmed, Advocate Tanzir Khatana, Khursheed Ul Islam and Shah Mohd. J&K National Conference today held a function under the Chairmanship of Ram Paul (Former Minister) senior leader of the party to celebrate the 1 20th birth anniversary of Bharat Rattan Baba Sahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. The members garlanded the portrait of Bharat Rattan Baba Sahib Dr. B.R Ambedkar. While speaking on this occasion, Ram Paul highlighted the role and contributions put forth by Baba Sahib during his long pending struggle for the overall development of the masses of India and depressed classes in particular. The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal welfare association also celebrated the birth anniversary. Those who were present included Sat Pal Lakhotra, R.L.Kaith, Capt. Om Parkash Tugga, Capt. Kamal Chand Motan, Capt. Ram Lal Sargotra, Capt. Dnrbari Lal Salgotra, Capt. Om Parkash Raith, Sub. Maj.
