Legal Stars lifts Advocates’ Cricket Trophy

JAMMU, April 14: Sailing on contributions from the trio of skipper and man of the match Pranav Kohli and man of the tournament AP Singh, Legal Stars XI trounced Paradise Cricket Club by eight wickets to lift the Advocates’ Cricket Tournament, organised by Jammu Bar Association at University of Jammu (JU) grounds, here today.
Batting first, after winning the toss, Paradise Club scored 104 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 15 overs. Nitin Basin scored handsome 30 runs while Anubhav contributed 18 to the total. For Legal Stars, Irfan and AP Singh scalped two wickets each while Vivek and Amit Bhardwaj claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Legal Stars XI chased the target easily in 11 overs, losing just two wickets in the process, thus won the match by eight wickets. Skipper Pranav Kohli made brilliant 45 runs with the help of five crispy fours and massive two sixes while in form AP Singh contributed unbeaten 36 runs in the winning cause. Gourav also chipped in with unbeaten 11 runs. Ajay and Arvind took one wicket each for Paradise Club.
Pranav Kohli was adjudged man of the match, AP Singh man of the tournament while Ajay Singh Manhas was declared best bowler of the tournament.
The final was officiated by Rajesh Jaitley and Sandeep Singh as umpires while Suresh Sharma acted as a scorer.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, played in the morning session, Paradise got better off Royal Warriors XI by three wickets with Ravi Abrol smashing power-packed 65 runs for the winners. In the second semifinal, Legal Stars XI outplayed Legal Warriors by four wickets. AP Singh was main contributor for winners with magnificent 34 runs.
Minister for Sports, RS Chib was chief guest in the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
