Young Star wins by 7 wkts in Rajiv Cricket | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 14: Host Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) today registered a seven wickets win on way to the quarterfinals of the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial (T20) Cricket Tournament underway at MA Stadium, here. In today’s pre-quarterfinal, YSCC defeated Lucky Cricket Club (LCC) comfortably. Earlier, batting first, LCC scored a meagre total of 108 runs in stipulated 20 overs, losing five wickets in the process. Sunil played a brilliant innings of 62 runs in 60 balls while Sunny contributed elegant 25 runs. Rajan, Romy and Aman claimed one wicket each for YSCC. Later, chasing a target of 109 runs, YSCC batsmen played sensibly to reach the required total in 17 overs by losing three wickets. Romy top scored with 43 runs while Kaka and Lara contributed 28 and 14 runs respectively. Kamal and Sanjeev took one wicket each for Lucky Club. Romy of YSCC was adjudged man of the match for superb batting display.
U-14 Criket: Mayank Academy wins
Meanwhile, in another match of the day in under-14 category, Mayank Goswami Academy thrashed Hari Cricket Club by 10 wickets to consolidate their position. Hari Cricket Club made 86 for four in allotted 15 overs with Arun (29) and Ankit (18). Surya, Shubam and Pushpinder picked one wicket each for Mayank Academy. Mayank Goswami Academy, in reply chased the target in 10 overs without losing any wicket as openers Surya and Pushpinder tore the rival bowlers with utmost timing. Surya remained unbeaten on 38 runs while Pushpinder made valuable 20. Extras contributed 13 runs to the team’s total. Surya was declared man of the match for his all-round performance. The match was officiated by Madan Lal, Pappu Dogra and Rakesh Sharma.
