Physical Education lifts inter-department cricket trophy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 15: Despite brilliant innings played by first class cricketer, Amit Baloria, Department of Law lost to Department of Physical Education by four wickets in the final of the inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu (JU) on the campus, here today. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Law set a target of 160 runs for the loss of four wickets in allotted 20 overs, which, in reply, Physical Education chased making 162 runs in last over with four wickets in hand. Skipper, Amit Baloria was top scorer with 60-ball 87 runs, including three sixes and 11 fours while Ajitpal Singh contributed 30 runs. From Physical Education, Lovjeet Singh, Chander Kiran and Sachin took one wicket each. Later, Physical Education made a confident start and played steady innings to achieve the target for the loss of four wickets. Sunil Sharma made highest 40ball 52 runs while Chander Kiran played quickfire innings of 42 (off 17 ball, 2x6, 6x4). Sachin added valuable 29 runs to the total. From Law Department, Sandeep claimed two wickets while Ajitpal and Amit Baloria shared apiece each. The final was officiated by Raman Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Sat Pal (scorer).
