| Mubarak Mandi Bachao Andolan organises silent march | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 15: Mubarak Mandi Bachao Andolan-a people’s movement to Save Mubarak Mandi from being damaged or commercialized, organized a silent march here today.
March started from Purani Mandi and after passing through Raj Tilak Road, Moti Bazaar, Pacca Danga, Chowk Chabutra reached Mubarak Mandi. A large number of people from different walks of life including writers, businessmen, workers, students and youth participated in the march. They were carrying placards in their hands with slogans: “Save Mubarak Mandi- A Dogra heritage” “Do not convert Mubarak Mandi to 5 Star Hotel, hand it over to ASI (Archaeological Survey of India)”.
Led by members of the organizing committee comprising of Narsinghdev Singh Jamwal a prominent Dogri writer(Patron), Hari Chand Jalmeria Advocate (coordinator), Gianeshwar Sharma, Mohan Singh prominent Dogri Writers and Udey Chand, other prominent participants in the March included Padam Shree Dr. Jatinder Udhampuri, Dhian Singh Langeh, Parduman Singh Jandraiya, Kamal Singh Jamwal, Vilakshan Singh, Arvind Singh, Chander Udey, Ram Pal Sharma, S. Inderpal Singh, S. Rajinder Singh, Sukesh Khajuria, Rajinder Jamwal, Sham Verma, Dewaker Singh and Vimil Mahajan
They resented the government decision of giving the control of Mubarak Mandi to an NGO which has neither any technical knowhow nor is an authority to replace the ASI. They assailed the NGO for floating tenders to construct 5 star hotel in the Mubarak Mandi Complex. Historical monuments are treasurers for study and preservation of history and culture and not for commercial activities.
They demanded that the Mubarak Mandi complex should immediately be handed over to the Archaeological Survey of India for its proper preservation and repairs. March concluded with a sweet DOGRI SONG presented by Nirbey Singh Slathia at Mubarak Mandi. Dhian Singh presented vote of thanks. Coordinator of the Andolan Hari Chand Jalmeria announced to hold cultural Programme inside Mubarak Mandi.
