| Birth anniversary of B.R.Ambedkar celebrated | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 15: Dr. Ambedkar Studies Centre of the Department of Sociology in the University of Jammu today celebrated 120th Birth Anniversary of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar at Government Primary School (GPS) Kupper at Dansal Block, District Jammu.
Under the direction of Prof. Abha Chauhan, Director, Dr. Ambedkar Studies Centre, function was organized by centre at village Kupper in the Bain Bajalta Panchayat. Programme was started by paying floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
On the occasion, Kandeel Kashyap, Field Investigator of Dr. Ambedkar Studies Centre while welcoming the guests and participants gave the background of the activities of the centre. He also talked about some work done viz Research Activities, Awareness programme on Marginalized Communities, SC's, ST's and OBC's and Panchayat Raj and Environmental Awareness Camps etc. in the villages of the Bain Bajalta Panchayat.
Baldev Raj Sharma in his address said that Dr. Ambedkar was the Messiah of downtrodden people and architect of our constitution. He also appreciated efforts of Dr. Ambedkar Studies Centre towards fast development of five villages, Bain Bajalta Panchayat. He further appreciated Prof. Abha Chauhan, Director, Ambedkar Studies Centre for the welfare of their village.
In the ending phase, Sonika Sen, put some questions on Dr. Ambedkar's life history to the children. In that sense, this function was based on two way process i.e. give and take awareness. The participation of the school children, their parents and locals made the event a grand success. On the occasion, the research scholars who were present included Sonika Sen, Arun Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Sudesh Kumar, Ruchi and Akanksha Kalsotra
