Sharma review health functioning in Kashmir | 65.36 lakh persons provided Medicare during 2010-11 | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 15: Health minister Sham Lal Sharma today conducted a high level meeting to take stock of developmental works and functioning of health institutions in Kashmir. Addressing the meeting, Health minister said that health sector has a “high government priority” and government is giving its maximum effort to provide the entire required medical facilities and latest equipments particularly to rural areas. Minister also directed the officials to work with added dedication and empathy. Minister said that the doctor’s occupation is a noble profession and therefore the doctors should accord full attention toward their duties and remain punctual at their respective institutions. Director NRHM Yashpal informed the minister about various health and administrative issues in a detailed PowerPoint presentation and also highlighted achievements of the health department. Yashpal also presented various proposals for further improvement and up gradation of different health institutions. Meeting was attended by Director Health, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, and other health officials including CMO’s, BMO’s and DMO’s of Kashmir division. Director Health Kashmir informed the minister that over 65.36 Lakh persons have been provided medicine facilities in the division during last year up to March 2011. Director Floriculture Dr. Sarwar Naqash informed the minister that the Tulip Garden has now six terraces having 15 Lakh Tulip Bulbs.
