| Zonal, Sectoral Magistrates meet held | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Apr 15: To ensure smooth conduct of Panchayat elections in the district, the District Panchayat Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Udhampur, Baseer Ahmed Khan convened a joint meeting of Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates and Zonal and Sector Police Officers already appointed for Chenani block of the district, here today.
District Panchayat Election Officer while speaking on the occasion stressed the need for better coordination between Zonal and Sectoral Police Officers and Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates for the smooth conduct of the Panchayat elections in the district. He said that that each Magistrate should be well versed with the location of polling station, collection centres, route map, sector, transport and communication plans etc.
SSP Udhampur also briefed the participants about their responsibilities as Zonal and Sector Officers for the fair and smooth conduct of the Panchayat elections. It was revealed in the meeting that polling would start at 8 a.m. and culminate at 2 p.m. In all, Chenani block has been divided into 08 zones and 17 sectors for the fair conduct of Panchayat election in the block where 69188 voters including 32299 female voter would exercise their right of franchise on April 17, 2011 at 390 polling stations.
