Troops donate blood for Kashmiri brethren

JAMMU, April 15:
The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, (JAKLI) a state personnel resourced Infantry Regiment of the Army, came forward in large numbers to donate blood for their brethren and sisters at Rangreth today.
Led by the Chinar Corps Commander, Lieutenant General SA Hasnain and Asgar Samoon, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir ably assisted by Major General JP Alex, Colonel of JAKLI, Brigadier Somnath Jha, Commandant JAKLI Centre and Mr Amir Ali, Officer on Special Duty to the Divisional Commissioner, the blood collected through this camp will be sent to all major hospitals of the valley including Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences.
The Blood Donation Camp was organized as a part of the 63rd Raising Day Celebrations of the Regiment.
Large number of jawans hailing from the state lined up to donate their blood. “We are giving this blood for our brethren”, said Rifleman Bashir Ahmad Magray, who hails from Kulgam.
Interacting with media persons on the sidelines of the Camp, General
Hasnain, in reply to a specific question lauded the most amazing cooperation between the Army and the local administration in achieving peace in the valley.
‘This year for us is the ‘Year of the Kashmiri Awaam’, he said. ‘We are donating blood not only for the negativities like blasts but also victims of accidents and criminal activities’, he added. He also lauded the efforts of JAKLI in all national crisis faced by the country.
Commenting on the situation in the valley, General Hasnain said, ‘The situation cannot be normal as the infrastructure and intent across the border is alive as also their over ground network in the valley. We are fully prepared.
With the melting of snow, infiltration bids are likely to commence in the next few days, but be assured, we are prepared for them’.
This camp is latest in a series of the Army’s attempts to reach out to the Awaam since General Hasnain assumed charge.
