NC ignoring Sikhs in JK: State Akali Dal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 15: All Jammu and Kashmir State Akali Dal has expressed grave concern over the attitude of National Conference in ignoring the Sikh community which forms major part of population of the state particularly in Jammu region. Addressing a meeting of the members and office bearers of All Jammu and Kashmir State Akali Dal held here today, president of the party Gajan Singh said that the Sikh community of Jammu and Kashmir has always remained supporters of National Conference party. He said that during the reign of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and Dr Farroq Abdullah due representation was granted to this community in the J&K Legislature but since Omar Abdullah has taken over the charge this community has been deprived of its legitimate right. Singh said that Omar ignored and deprived Sikh community of any representation as neither any member of this community is in the J&K State Legislative Assembly nor in J&K State Council from Jammu Region. Gajan Singh has appealed all the leaders of the community as well as Presidents of Gurdawars to come on one platform to get the rights of Sikhs restored and adopt strategies for the purpose. On the occasion, the Akali Dal members demanded due representation to Sikhs for the best interests of the community as a whole.
