Dr Farooq Abdullah was rushed to the Government hospital in Gandhi Nagar Friday morning after he complained of stomach ache and vomited frequently. Dr Abdullah was scheduled to attend the inauguration ceremony of an art exhibition here at Kala Kendra in Jammu before he was admitted to a government hospital.
Medical Superintendent Gandhi Nagar Hospital Dr Madhu Khullar said, “A team of doctors conducted thorough medical examination of Dr Abdullah and certain necessary tests were conducted to ascertain the reason behind sudden vomiting".
“Dr Abdullah was administered glucose dose and has been advised bed rest", she added. Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Governor N.N.Vohra, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and members of the council of ministers of Omar Abdullah called on Dr Abdullah in the hospital
“He was almost 80 % fit when we allowed him to go to his home,” said Dr. BB Gupta, head of the department of gastroenterology GMC, who treated the minister. Talking to media after coming out of the hospital, Farooq said, “By the grace of God I am fine. I had some gastro problem due to which I came to hospital. I am now fit and I am still young,” 73-year-old Farooq added.
Within minutes of news of Farooq being hospitalized, most of the state government ministers and officials rushed to the hospital to know about his health. According to Dr. Gupta, “Farooq complained of nausea and vomiting and when he reached the hospital, he was still vomiting. He had mild dehydration but thereafter we immediately put him on intravenous fluids and he recovered. His vital parameters are corrected now.”
Sources close to Farooq said that during a party with President of India of Thursday at national capital, Farooq had some snacks which led to food posing resulting in mild dehydration.
