| Fake gun licence case: Sr clerk held on SDM’s disclosure | | |
JAMMU, Apr 15: On the disclosure of Mendhar SDM Mukhtiyar Choudhary, who was arrested few days back in the alleged fake gun licence case, police today picked up a senior clerk-cum-agent from Rajouri.
The clerk, whom police sources identified as Qasim Din of Narian, Rajouri, allegedly used to allure people into getting fake gun licences prepared from the SDM in lieu of money.
Mukhtiyar revealed that Qasim charged Rs 35,000 to 50,000 for each licence. After deducting his commission, he used to pay rest of the amount to him, he added.
Qasim's interrogation was in progress. Some more arrests were expected in the case.
Sources said police would also question political leaders and police officers who had helped him to escape from police custody for more than two months. Qasim was alleged to have destroyed all the requisite record.
