Rotary Club organized training seminar of office bearers

JAMMU, APRIL 16- Lauding the role of Rotary International for providing philanthropic services and encouraging high ethical values to promote peace in the world, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora today emphasized the need of healthy relationship between public and NGOs to ensure sustainable development of the society.
This was stated by the Minister at the inaugural function of 2-day training seminar for Rotary International President and Secretary (Elect), organized by the Rotary Club Jammu to sensitize the Rotarians about various social works for upliftment of underprivileged sections of the society.
More than 150 delegates from J&K, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh are participating in the programme.
Mr. Jora said NGOs can play vital role in removing certain social evils like corruption, dowry, domestic violence, child labor, illiteracy, drug addiction etc from the society besides supplementing government’s efforts for promoting the interests of people. He appealed the people to support such philanthropic organizations morally, physically and economically so that their own society is liberated of the chaos and confusion of present time.
The Minister said besides affecting many social corners, NGOs are also getting revamped at every stage with effective management and motivated staff to serve the cause of the society. He said there are several facets of society like poverty, mal-nutrition, ignorance, poverty; unemployment illiteracy which needs to be addressed and NGOs can contribute with more vigor and devotion. He said Government will extend all possible assistance to all those organizations who are engaged in promoting the cause of the society with sincerity, especially at the times of natural calamities and emergencies. He appreciated the role of Rotary club during last natural calamity in Leh for the rehabilitation of the people.
The Minister also released a Souvenir of the Club depicting social activities registered by the institution during natural calamity and other disasters.
President Rotary Club Jammu, Rotarian Dr. Dushyant Choudhary in his welcome address briefed about the activities of the Club and the contribution the organization has made in different sectors.
The Rotary district 3070 was represented by District Governor Rtn M.M. Jerath, District Governor (Elect) Rtn Sanjiv Sethi and District Governor (N) Rtn. Dr. Pawan Gupta along with the Past District Governor Rtn Ulhas Kolhatkar who specially came from Mumbai to train the officers.
