ADC Doda convened meeting of RO’s and ARO’s

DODA, APRIL 16-In view of the forthcoming Panchayati Elections 2011, Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda Mr. A.R Natnoo today convened a meeting of the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers of Assar and Thathri Blocks to apprise them about their responsibilities for free and fair conduct of Panchayati Elections in their respective jurisdictions.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue Doda Mr. Naresh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner development Mr. R.A Choudhary besides Naib Tehsildar Elections Doda, Block Development Officer Assar and Thathri were also present in the meeting.
While speaking of the occasion ADC Doda impressed upon the appointed RO’s and ARO’s to strictly follow the guidelines of the Election Commission and work in coordination for free and fair conduct of elections. He asked the officers to go through the study material provided to them thoroughly so that they become acquainted with the rules and regulations to be followed and adhered during the election process. He asked the officers to be polite and firm in their conduct and work during the election process.
It was revealed in the meeting that w.r.t Assar and Thathri Block the Date of issuance of gazette notification 23-4-2011, last date for making nomination 30-4-2011, date of scrutiny 2-5-2011, last date for withdrawal of candidature 4-5- 2011, Date of poll 21-05-2011.
He also said that training will be provided to them by the experts during the programme so that they don’t face any problem in the election process. ADC also said that elections in the all eight blocks of the District will be held in 6 phases. ADC said that every official involved in the conduct of election besides functioning in professional manner within the rigorous legal frame work is also required to ensure fairness and transparency in the complete election process.
Even a slight mistake, lapse or wrong application of law or rules may vitiate the elections process. ADC stressed upon the RO’s and ARO’s present in the meeting to acquaint themselves with updated rules and procedures connected with the conduct of elections and also asked them to familiarize thoroughly with the steps to be taken at various stages.
