4/16/2011 9:01:24 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, April 16: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today demanded that government should clear its stand on the Dogra certificate.
JWAM which today started a series of protest from today alleged that administration has succumbed before the separatists forcing it to alter its earlier notification for issuing Dogra certificate to the people of Jammu region.
They also disrupted traffic on the High Court road at New Plot and warned that if government continues to ignore the aspirations of Jammu region, they will launch a agitation involving all the districts of the region.
Speaking on the occasion, president of JWAM Sunil Dimple criticized the administration for creating confusion in the minds of people on the certificate issue which is the right of the Dogra community.
He also expressed surprise over the statement of Union Minister Farooq Abdulla that issue would be discussed in the State Cabinet.
“Certificate is being issued to the people for past many decades allowing the candidates to get some concession in the defense and para military forces. We will now allow its dilution”, he said.
He also strongly criticized some ministers and some Kashmiri leaders who are trying to divide the Jammu region on the basis of the religion and caste. “All those who live in Jammu are considered Dogras be it Muslim, Christian or Sikh and they have distant identity which was recognized since the time of British”, he said.
He said we will fight for Dogra identity and will give befitting reply to the anti national elements. Calling upon all the organisations to come on single platform and fight against the discrimination meted out to Jammu region by successive administration Dimple said, “Our fight is against those elements who have always exploited the emotions of the people and used every mean to divide us”, he said.
Dimple said that while no action is being taken against the people who openly raise slogans against the country, but nationalist forces are being suppressed with brutal force.
