| Balraj Puri condemns Maulana Showkat’s assassination | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, April 16:
Convenor PUCL J&K State, Balraj Puri, joined the wide spread condemnation by the people and leaders of Kashmir on the assassination of the prominent cleric and jamait Ahle-Hadees president Maulana Showkat Ahmad Shah in Srinagar to lead Friday prayers.
Maulana had escaped two attempts at his life earlier and was the target of the militants for opposing violence and having met central interlocutors, he said. No words were strong enough to condemn this barbaric and cowardly act, Puri added.
