Rangyug stages’ Ek Tha Gadha’ | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, April 16: Rangyug, a leading theatre group dedicated to theatre for social change, performed ‘Ek Tha Gadha…’, written by a prominent litterateur ‘Sharad Joshi’ at Abhinav Theatre. The group has created a niche through its unforgettable performances of classics, experimental and socially relevant plays for the last 27 years. The group was the first from the state to participate in the international festival held at Lahore, Pakistan. The playwright had created several sequences to bring alive the sordid realities of the subjugated common man in the regime of the Nawab. It attains an inevitable climax when a law- abiding commoner Aladad Khan is forced to die only to cover up a case of false- identity of a donkey, also named Aladad .Raj Kumar Behrupia as Nawab was successful in portraying the ambitiousness and high- headedness of our politicians in a very subtle manner. The theme was well supported with the performance of other actors. Isha taggar as Ramkali and Avnish Sharma as Kotwal were highly acclaimed by the audience. Ajay Paul Singh as Sutradhar; Ashish Sharma as Juggan; Prince Rajan Khajuria as Nathu; Sangeeta Pandita as reporter; Jatinder Gupta as Devilal and Vikram Sharma as Aladad Khan also added to this unforgettable performance.
