Sammilan 11 described as a confluence of thoughts and ideas

Jammu, Apr 16: Sammilan, 2011 the third edition of the national level technical cum cultural festival for engineering students got underway in a grand fashion at Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET).
Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment. Abdul Gani Malik, graced the occasion as chief guest and inaugurated the festival. The function was presided over by Mubarik Gul, advisor to Chief Minister, J&K.
The guest of honour was Rajive Gupta, director colleges development, and university of Jammu.
Arun K. Gupta formally welcomed the chief guest and described him as the driving force and the inspiration behind the transformation being brought about in the higher education sector in the state.
He credited the Minister for taking concrete measures to build and develop the education sector in this trouble-torn state and expressed hope that such positive developments shall enable J&K to develop institutions at par with the best.
Describing Sammilan 11 as a confluence of thoughts and ideas, he congratulated the students in conceiving this idea and in their fantastic execution.
Maj. Gen. (Retd.), S.K Sharma, principal, MIET expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest for sparing his valuable time to grace the occasion.
He expressed pride in the abilities of the students of MIET in organizing events on such a large scale.
The chief guest in his address lauded the role of MIET in spreading quality technical education and launching innovative programmes designed to increase the skill levels of the students from the State.
He was impressed with the progress made by the institute and offered his best wishes for its continued progress and success.
He expressed confidence in the ability of the students of the state to take on the best from the rest of the country and felt that organization of such festivals shall go a long way in providing valuable exposure to the student community.
The Chief Guest declared the festival open and also released the festival souvenir, specially created for the event.
\Rajive Gupta in his address described Sammilan as an innovative festival which shall help hone the skills and develop the overall personalities of the students.
He wished that such events should be organized on a regular basis.
Director, MIER \Renu Gupta exhorted on the students dedicated sammilan 2011 to the inherent exuberant energy in the MIET student community and expressed delight at the successful organization of the event.
