HC directs govt not to arrest ultra-turned-SPO | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 16: High court judge, Justice Virender Singh today directed the government not arrest ultra-turned-SPO Farooq Ahmad Beigh, but said police might go ahead with their investigation of the cases registered against him. Farooq, who surrendered in September 2005, was later appointed as SPO. Since police were already probing the cases registered against him in 2002 under FIR Nos 68, 79, 81 and 107 and FIR NO 88 registered in 2003, he moved court, seeking direction to police not to arrest him. After hearing the two sides, Justice Singh issued notice to the state through financial commissioner (Home), DGP, ADGP CID, SSP Ramban and SHO of Gool police station with the direction that the prosecution agency might go head with their investigation in the cases registered against him. The court also directed the petitioner not to leave the jurisdiction of any police station without the permission of SSP and that he would make himself available as and when called by the investigating officer. The court directed the respondents to file detailed reply with regard to the investigation carried out in the cases against him till date so as to arrive at a logical conclusion at the earliest.
