| Woman attacked in Doda, culprit nailed | | |

DODA, Apr 18: Doda Police today arrested a person within 24 hours of him attacking a woman with an axe in Charala village of Doda district.
The accused has been identified as Vikram Singh alias Vicky son of Patel Singh, a resident of Basel Amrithgarh in Charala village. Sources said that Vikam Singh alias Vicky was with grazing cattle in the upper reaches of the Charala and when they entered in the field of one lady farmer Hamida Begum wife of Asir Ahmed, she resisted which led to hot exchange of the words between the two.
Police sources said that Vikram Singh alias Vicky attacked the women with an axe leaving her in the pool of blood and escaped from the spot. After getting the information, Police registered the case and lodged an FIR no 21/ 2011 under section 307 RPC.
A manhunt was immediately launched to nab the culprit under the supervision of DIG Doda Ramban range Manish Sinha , SP Hq Doda Arif Rishu and ASP T R Katoch led by SDPO Jameel Ahmed and SHO Tharti Masoof Mirza. Police teams were sent in different directions and after the hectic efforts, accused was arrested from the Charala forest area of the Doda district.
