| Natrang stages Manto’s Urdu comedy ‘Bemar’ | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 18: ‘Bemaar’ a comedy play in Urdu written by Saadat Hasan Manto and directed by Sumeet Sharma was staged here at Natrang Studio Theatre in its weekly Sunday Theatre series. The play was successful in making audience laugh at each and every action. It was ameliorated with some new sequences which supplemented its impact. In the play, ‘Kumar’ is not feeling well even after taking some medicines. He becomes an opportune lab testing animal for everyone around him and all his acquaintances practice their skills of prescribing panacea on him. He is made to consume rotten vegetables and a lot of weird items. Even after doing variegated treatment, his condition deteriorates which frustrates him and he resolves to go for one single logical treatment. This play suggests in a very humorous manner that we should not be so unstable that we are carried away by anybody’s suggestions (relevant or irrelevant). Mohit Sharma as ‘Kumar’ reflected his versatility as an actor, he was equally supported by Pawan Verma as ‘Rashid’, Sumeet Sharma as ‘Bedi’, Balwinder Singh as ‘Madhoo’ Sachin Saini as ‘Narayan’, Shifali Gupta as ‘Aapa’ and Niharika Sharma as ‘Mini’. Lights were operated by Mohd. Yaseen. The presentations were done by Gaurav Triyal. The show was coordinated by Neeraj Kant. Natrang director Balwant Thakur complimented the team of actors and the director for a slick production and assured to have quite exciting plays to feature in Sunday theatre in the coming weeks.
