Neki, Benia share Salora Kesari title

JAMMU, April 18: Top state police wrestler, Benia and Nek Singh (Neki) of Gurdaspur in Punjab shared the 27th Salora Kesari dangal title after the main bout played between them remained undecided in 29-minute long fight that took place at Salora in district Jammu.
Both the wrestlers, who entertained the crowd with their exceptional abilities, were given away a cash prize of Rs 21,000 by special guests, president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Chuni Lal Ramotra.
The day-long event, wherein 44 bouts were decided, was organised by Salora Dangal Committee under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Retired Superintendent of Police, Prithvi Raj Sharma presided over the function while SDPO, AH Munshi and SHO Jhajjar Kotli, YP Jamwal were guests of honour.
The second main bout went to Paula of Himachal Pradesh, who beat wrestler Sukha of Rajasthan to fetch a cash award of Rs 10,000. Runners-up, Sukha got Rs 8,000. In the third main bout, Kamaljot (Billa) of Khanna in Punjab defeated Sagar of Delhi. While Kamaljot was given away Rs 7,000, Sagar awarded Rs 4,000 cash prizes. Fourth main bout was clinched by Sona of Amritsar beating Balbir of Doomcharri.
Members and technical officials who helped for conduct of dangal were Chuni Lal Ramotra, Rajinder Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Om Parkash, Ajit Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Ch. Ahmed Din (Gogi), Soni Sharma, Kaka Ram Dubey, Bansi Lal (ex-Sarpanch), Pappu Lakri, Vijay Aingh and Mohd. Fareed.
Other Results: Sainf Ali beat Dheera, Gurdev Singh beat Kaka, Vijay of Harayana beat Tony of H.P, Nabab of Delhi beat Billu of Jallandar, Ajeeta of Amritsar beat Deepa of Namashara and Amandeep of Khanna beat Devinder of Doomcharri. Bout between Parveen (national junior silver medalist) and Omkar Singh of Kathua ended in a draw.
