| Academy releases “Mashahir-e-Adab Ke Khatoot” | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, April 18: The Academy of Art, Culture and Languages released Dr Premi Romani’s book “Mashahir-e-Adab Ke Khatoot” at KL Saigal Hall here today.
Several persons of note from different walks of life attended the book release function.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included former Director General Culture, Mohammad Yousuf Taing, Media Advisor to Government, Farooq Nazki, Secretary Academy, Zafar Iqbal Manhas, Director Doordarshan Jammu, Shabir Mujahid, Dr Premi Romani and educationist, Prof Qudoos Javed.
Speaking on the occasion Taing recalled his association with late Brij Premi to whom the literary greats of Urdu had written the letters which are part and parcel of “Mashahir-e-Adab Ke Khatoot”.
Appreciating Romani, Taing said that his book provided a deep insight into the life and times of Brij Premi and would further enrich the already rich Urdu literature.
Earlier welcoming the guests, secretary Academy, Zafar Iqbal Manhas said that his organisation was glad to release Mashahir-e-Adab which in his opinion could also be named as Manto Nama as it contained many references to the legendary Urdu writer late Sadat Hassan Manto.
As part of the function Prof. Qudoos Javed read a comprehensive paper on Romani’s book with a focus on letters of those literary greats who had communicated with Brij Premi during his lifetime.
The programme proceedings were conducted by chief editor, Gojri, Dr Javaid Rahi who also presented the vote of thanks.
